World History on Coins

Coins are the pulse of the world depicting Culture, Art, Economics and Politics. Ancienr Man, before culture set-in lived and traded on his produce called the bartering system. The earliest extant coin the Lydian Lion coin (610 - 510 BC) directly preceded ancient Greek coinage, through which Rome begot all Western coinage, and which through the Seleukids, Parthians, and Sassanians formed the basis all Islamic coinage. Indian coinage largely imbibed the Greek, Roman, and Islamic influences through successive invasions. Chinese coinage developed independently and the the  Western-style coinage followed in the late nineteenth century. Other countries in Asia, in Africa, and elsewhere have adopted the Western colonial approach to coinage.
