Seated Buddha in virasane with righ hand in bhimispara (earth pointing)  while left hand in dhyana (meditation)  characteristic of Theravada Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Buddha is seen with the flame ornament (sirispata) cranial protuberance (Usnisa), again in line with Sri Lankan tradition. His  curled hair, long ears and folded monastic robes (utterasanga) and a shawl (sangata) are consistent with island's ancient Buddist tradition.
